Behind the Scenes: Styling the Perfect Cake Smash

We wanted Alea’s session to be a burst of fun and colour to match her bright personality. We chose a cheerful, multi-colored setup with shades of pink, yellow, and baby blue in the balloons and banner. Alea completed the setup perfectly!

  • The Cake Focus: The centrepiece was a small, custom-made sponge cake with smooth, soft buttercream frosting, making it easy for Alea's little hands to grasp and explore. We ensured the colours of the cake popped against the light backdrop, guaranteeing that vibrant, high-quality look in every photo.
  • The Posing Area: To capture the best, most authentic interaction, we set Alea up right on the floor in her favourite little outfit. This simple placement encourages natural movements—crawling, tasting, and, of course, smashing!
  • Capturing the Joy: I love the moment she first tasted the sweet frosting! She was so cute digging into her cake. Her inquisitive expressions and bursts of giggles were perfectly captured using my professional natural light studio setup in Basildon.
