Glamour, Couture & Cultural Royalty: Peace’s 40th Birthday Studio Photoshoot

There is nothing quite like welcoming a new decade with confidence, beauty, and style. When Peace reached out to book her 40th birthday photoshoot, I was over the moon! Having previously captured her daughter’s 10th birthday session at the studio, welcoming repeat clients back into my space is the ultimate compliment.

For her milestone 40th, Peace wanted a session that felt regal, joyful, and completely tailored to her personality. She brought three custom-made dresses designed by a dressmaker in Nigeria, each bringing a completely different energy to the studio.

Look 1: Royal Nigerian Glamour & Custom Aso Ebi

We started the session honoring tradition and culture with her traditional Nigerian attire. The craftsmanship on her custom velvet and beaded purple corset outfit complete with a perfectly styled silver Gele, was exquisite.

To give this look the royal treatment it deserved, we used soft, timeless studio lighting that highlighted the intricate beadwork and rich textures of her outfit. Capturing the elegance and poise of an African queen entering her 40s was an absolute joy.

Look 2: Fun, Playful & Festive '40' Silver Balloons

No milestone birthday photoshoot is complete without a bit of fun! For her second look, Peace changed into a chic, custom magenta mini dress with delicate embroidery and brought out silver '40' number balloons.

We shifted to a sleek, dark backdrop and higher-contrast studio lighting to make the metallic balloons and her vibrant dress pop. Capturing her radiant smile and playful posing showed off the pure excitement of celebrating 40 years of life.

Look 3: Pure Editorial Elegance in Peach Tulle

For her final transformation, Peace stepped into a showstopping, multi-layered peach tulle gown that belonged on the cover of a magazine.

Using studio posing blocks, warm lighting, and dramatic shadow play, we created an editorial, high-fashion atmosphere. The way the tulle cascaded across the studio floor gave these portraits a luxurious, dreamlike quality. It was the ultimate celebration of self-love, beauty, and entering a new chapter with total confidence.
