I was thrilled to share my studio with little Eliot for his first birthday photoshoot. I originally met Eliot's mom through our mutual love of photography, and it was such a great and fun session. He was so cute and gave us the best faces and smiles!

Behind the Scenes: A Personalized and Modern Cake Smash Style

We pride ourselves on creating a custom environment for each of our clients. For Eliot's session, we focused on bright, cheerful colours that suited his vibrant personality. Our goal was to deliver high-quality images that were focused on the baby's expressions, rather than busy props.

  • Custom Styling: We chose a modern, simple backdrop that allowed Eliot's colorful birthday cake and expressions to pop. Our studio is equipped to manage the lighting perfectly, ensuring a soft, bright, and flattering result regardless of the time of day.
  • The Cake & The Smash: Eliot loved his cake SO much! He was focused and provided us with those authentic moments every parent wants to capture. The best moments are always the candid ones—the tentative first taste, the big smush, and the surprised faces—and I loved snapping it all.
  • Safety and Comfort: All sessions are held in our dedicated Basildon studio, which provides a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for one-year-olds to explore the mess.

From Cake to Clean-Up: Capturing the Fun and the Bath

The cake smash is only half the fun! After Eliot finished his cake, we moved on to the splash bath session. He loved the warm water and the bubbles, which provided a whole new set of adorable, happy portraits to finish the day. This second part of the session is a wonderful way to capture a variety of looks and send the baby home clean!
